General Guidelines

  • Lead by example: maintain a strong presence in church, attending a minimum of three (3) Sundays per  month
  • Trust God with your money by tithing
  • Maintain presence in Connect Groups / Lead Connect Groups. 
  • Attend weekday Prayer/Worship events 
  • Remain in regular contact/communication with the Executive Pastor  
  • Provide feedback on opportunities where we can strive to provide better service to our team or our  guests.

Essential Duties and Guidelines

  • Be familiar with the building and special events at church. Check out the Website, and Social Media
    before the service for any information you may need.
  • Train new team members in your area. Clearly communicate expectations and specifics of the role.
  • Follow these steps when you’re training a new team member:
    • I do it. You watch. • You do it. I watch.
    • We do it together. • You do it.
  • Maintain contact with your team via email, phone call, texts, handwritten notes, etc. Building relationships helps each member feel needed and known.
  • Provides assistance, as needed, to the CHR cleaning team when requested to do so.
  • Provides self transportation to all CHR facilities in Hampton Roads to perform/conduct facilities and grounds requests
  • Maintains a good driving record and standing in accordance with Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles should the need to operate CHR registered vehicles arise.
  • Assists in the installation, repair and maintenance of basic plumbing, electrical equipment and facilities.
  • Coordinates obtaining quotes and facilitating contractors for repair and maintenance that requires specific or specialized skills
  • Performs painting of interior and exterior building surfaces; prepares surfaces for painting, protects surrounding surfaces and uses a variety a methods to apply paint or other covering materials such as brushes, rollers and spray equipment
  • Mows, trims, edges, fertilizes, and waters CHR landscaped areas; weeds, prunes, mulches, fertilizes, and sprays trees, plants and shrubbery; prepares soil for planting; seeds lawn areas.
  • Inspects CHR facilities; corrects or reports safety hazards.
  • Performs or coordinates snow removal and salting of facilities and access ways.
  • Operates and maintains a variety of hand and power tools and equipment related to activities.
  • Observes safe work methods and uses safety equipment; secures worksites from safety hazards as necessary.
  • Responds to questions and requests from the CHR Pastoral team; carries out assignments in a non-disruptive manner in areas receiving heavy public use.
  • Maintains basic records of work performed.
  • Maintains accurate record of hours worked and submits time weekly to the CHR Accountant.
  • Represents the church with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff, members, and guests.

Prerequisites

  • Sign membership covenant form
  • Have attended CHR for at least six (6) months
  • Be able to serve for at least (one) 1 year once in position
  • Completed or plan to complete Foundations within one (1) year of taking the position
  • No public alcohol consumption, to include social media posts
